Northlands is currently recruiting for a Building Control Operator to oversee the diverse mechanical systems and equipment that support the overall operations of Northlands. This is a permanent, full-time, shift work position. Shifts are four (4) - 10 hour shifts per week.

Primary responsibilities include the operation and maintenance of heating/pressure plants within the Northlands site. The Building Control Operator will be responsible for preparing boilers and pressure vessels for yearly inspections, water treatment, and other related power engineering duties.

Additional duties include the operating and monitoring of various computer control systems, generating reports using building automation system data, energy management, and communicating relevant data to appropriate departments in response to system malfunctions and/or technical difficulties.

As per the collective agreement, the union wage for this position is $34.35/hour to start, and $35.28/hour after six (6) months.


Requirements

  • A minimum of two (2) years experience with direct digital control systems (Siemens or Johnson Controls building automation systems preferred) and extensive knowledge in the operations and maintenance of heating/pressure plants.
  • A New Fourth Class power engineering certificate and a valid Class 5 drivers license are required (an abstract must be provided upon request).
  • Post-secondary education in HVAC or building environmental systems technology is a definite asset.
